We often think about how we can turn our shirts, pants, and other articles of clothing into pillow cases. Well, here is a great video showing how a pillow case can be turned into a dress. This is from the website GiannyL.com.
Super cute for a little girl or a shorter woman, and VERY unique - we definitely love that!

Fuschia Peacock Pillow

A friend once hinted that maybe I was bi-polar. She is a social worker and she noticed that many of the clients that she worked with who had that condition were very interested in color. Well, even though I am not bipolar (as far as I know!) I do love color - bright, vibrant, eye popping color. But I also like the jewel tone colors - navy blues, forest greens, deep burgundy. Let's not even mention pastels.
Here is a 16x16 Fuschia Pillow with screen printed peacock on the front.
Pillows for Patients
Local volunteers make 'Pain Pillows' to help area hospital residents recuperation time less painful.
The Newton Medical Center, 600 Medical Drive, Newton Ks. (http://www.newtonmedicalcenter.com/) has been distributing the pain pillows to it's patients to help prevent pneumonia.
Patients place the pillows over their abdomens when coughing. Coughing is encouraged to keep the lungs clear.
Polyfill for the pillows is needed. If you would like to donate to this cause, please call the Newton Medical Center at (316) 283-2700. Click the title of this post to read complete article.

More Turquoise Pillows

To the left is a pillow created in a luscious combination of turquoise and black velvet flocking . This pillow has a sophisticated feel that could bring a classy note to any living space.

Paired with a solid black suede pillow like this one at the bottom, would look great in a room of neutrals.

Turquoise Pillows

I've always had a fascination with the color turquoise. It's one of those colors that can be hard to pin down. Sometimes with a greenish hue, sometimes more blue. Seen often paired strikingly with darker colors in decor, like chocolate browns and blacks, here is a wonderful pairing of a silk turquoise pillow with silver.
I like how the candelabra is placed off center. The back of the pillow is a solid color. There's also a pair of Chandelier Turquoise Pillows that belong to this set.

Pillows for the Spirit
One of my favorite pillow designers is Rushan Smyth. Her pillows, made with special biblical symbolism, go beyond mere decoration and add a special personal touch for those that are spiritually minded. Read an article on her and her Peniel Pillow designs here.

Let Your Pillow Talk...I Mean 'Sing'
This puts a new spin on the phrase 'pillow talk'; or more like 'pillow song'. A unique idea I found online are these pillowscases that exhibit the lyrics to a meaningful song that you and your beloved share. Here is the article in it's entirety.
Create a romantic pillow for your mate
By KATHY CANO MURILLO
Gannett News Service
Don't you want to be the last thing on your significant other's mind before he/she falls asleep? Diamonds and roses are nice, but they won't do the trick.
Choose your favorite tune — maybe one from your wedding or first date — write the lyrics on a pillowcase, then dye it whatever shade you want.
Fabric-friendly supplies ensure the pillowcase will be soft and irresistibly huggable — just like you.
This is also a fun project for kids to try. Let them draw on the pillowcase or scribble a love note. Resist medium and fabric spray paint can be found in the clothing aisles at the craft store.
Love song pillowcase
Supplies:
1 white pillowcase
Cardboard to slide inside the pillowcase
1 bottle of Batik EZ resist medium
Lyrics to a love song
Newspaper
2 bottles of permanent spray-on fabric dye (red and pink)
Permanent spray-on fabric glitter
Directions:
Slide the cardboard inside the pillowcase. Work on a flat, smooth surface, such as a large tabletop.
The resist medium comes in a bottle with a skinny nozzle, perfect for writing. Begin to write your lyrics on the pillow.
The resist medium is thick and will spread when applied, so make sure to write large letters with enough space so they will not bleed into each other. Once you have all the lyrics written, let the resist medium dry for 24 hours.
Choose a work area outside and line it with newspaper. Cover the pillowcase with the spray-on dye until it is thoroughly covered. Let dry, then repeat on the other side.
Add a layer of spray-on glitter, let dry over night. Wash the pillowcase in the sink to remove the resist medium. Turn inside out to wash and dry.
Embellish the rest of the pillowcase with trims or embroidery as desired.

Washing Pillows
Here is a brief question and answer segment that someone asked regarding washing pillows. While the idea of tennis balls or tennis shoes in the dryer may not be new to you, the other little tid-bit the answerer throws in may be a bit of news you haven't heard before.
SUN HERALD
Q: I took my polyester-filled bed pillows to a Laundromat. I followed the directions on the tag, but they came out lumpy and unusable. I didn't dry them. Where did I go wrong?
Ann Magazeni
A: Putting them into the dryer with a couple of clean tennis balls or tennis shoes might have helped, said Russ Holbrook, vice president of merchandising in the basic bedding division of bedding manufacturer Springs Global.
Nevertheless, how well the pillows come out also depends partly on the types of fibers used. Fibers that are siliconized, which makes them slick, are often used in better pillows and tend to come out better, Holbrook said.
The next time you buy pillows, test a few by moving some of the fibers between your fingers through the pillow cover, he suggested. Siliconized fibers feel slippery; other fibers feel drier.
